Soccer - Yesterday we went to watch the friendly game between Argentina and Mexico in Qualcomm stadium, San Diego. The stadium was full, mainly Mexican soccer fans who came to the stadium to watch their soccer team and also to party! Yes the beer line was long and almost every adult sitting around us was holding a cup of beer many were drunk.
Anyway I was expecting a close and even game but Mexico came unprepared, weak, and without a plan. Argentina, two times world cup champions, took advantage of this opportunity and scored 3 goals in the first 30 minutes of the game. I must admit Argentina has grown to be one of my favorite soccer teams. I like their team work it is second to none. They are good in passing; short passes, long passes, through passes, basically they are just great when it comes to team work.
And on top of that they have Messi. The guy is unstoppable. He scored a goal and was involved in other 3. Oh yah Argentina beat Mexico 4-1 upsetting both the Mexican players and the Mexican fans.
Of course Mexico wasn’t there with full squad. Marqueez and a few other players were injured, and I also heard that Mexico’s temp. coach brought it some of his U21 players. So they paid the price against Argentina.
But again this was a friendly game and should not be taken too seriously, and I am glad I was fortunate to watch to great teams playing against each other. Hopefully there will be more games of this scale in US and California or San Diego soon.
Here are the goals
