Soccer - Players of the Italian Serie A soccer club Catania have come up with a new dirty strategy to score goals. Basically on the free kicks, they drop their shorts down to their knees to block the opponent’s goalkeeper vision of the ball.(Source)

Basically in soccer whenever there is a free-kick and the penalty box gets crowded with players, goalkeepers try to get a view of the ball through the legs of the players. So when players are dropping theirs shorts that could block up to 50% of goalkeepers view and when the ball is shot, by the time goalkeeper see the ball it maybe too late and may lead to a goal.

This strategy is a really dirty trick that only Italians could come up with ;). I hope it does not catch on with rest of the soccer world I rather see less goals that seeing goals like this. Scoring goals should come from team’s and players technical and tactical superiority not their sneakiness.

My two cents.

Soccer - I was so delighted when I learned that the man that I voted for to be the 44th president of United States, the Agent of change for this country, used to play soccer often in streets of Indonesia when he lived there in his childhood.

And he has also been taking his daughter Malia to her soccer practices and games many times before and has been an involved soccer dad. But there is more; He has also been a fan of English Premier League professional soccer club, West Ham United.

So I guess it is safe to say Change is coming to US soccer. Worldcup 2010, here comes <strike>Sam’s</strike> Obama’s Army!

Arsenal controlled most of the game and Samir Nasri scored two brilliant goals before Manchester United were able to get one back late in the game but still lost.

This can be a great boost for Arsenal as they are struggling to stay within the Champion League Zone of EPL table. But it’s always good to see Arsenal beating the Red Devils regardless of how their season is going. It is a crazy rivalry and Arsenal did just great today.

Also don’t forget to get your Arsenal jersey at Soccer Nation online soccer store. Oh yah if you are a Manchester United fan, we should have some Man U jerserys left too.

Soccer - Now that this historic election is over I can start blogging about soccer and other topics that I am interested in. I have to admit that due to this historical election and its great outcome, I am now more interested in politics so don’t be surprised if you see political topics from time to time.

Anyway back to soccer. Last week I subbed as a coach for Vista Storm BU16 team and I had told the coaching manager that I would be interested in coaching for his club for next season but now I think about it coaching may not be my thing.
The head of coaches said that I was too passive on the guys and was letting them have too much fun and to be honest with you that is how I coach and that is my vision of coaching. To have fun and learn and improve while having fun. But with competitive soccer I guess you need to be a bit more seriously and I don’t think its my cup of tea.

Anyways, I still want to be involved with local community and give something back and I was thinking the best way to do that is to actually start a foundation that gives back to local community through soccer. Which is the reason I had started Soccer Nation Foundation (SNF) a long time ago and we even teamed up with ACH and went to Mexico and gave some soccer gear away and play some soccer. But after that one event it kind of died down and we didn’t do anything else so I guess I want to get that going again.
There are a few ideas that are going through my head right now and I will share them soon once I get my thoughts all organized but I will be bringing up SNF more often from now on and I would appreciate any help with this organization.

Soccer - Futsal soccer also known as FIFA approved indoor soccer is one of the fastest growing sports and branch of soccer in the world. Futsal is usually played in a basketball court indoor with indoor soccer shoes and a low bounce soccer ball.

If you are a soccer player I recommend you play Futsal every once in a while because besides the fact that is a good exercise, it also helps you with your touches, ball control, and skills. Many great pro soccer players such as Ronaldino, Zidane, and Ronaldo have played Futsal that is why they are so good with the ball.

If you haven’t played Futsal before, I recommend you to go to your nearest vacant indoor\outdoor basketball or tennis court and just play. All you will need is some Futal or ndoor soccer shoes , a low bouncing futsal ball, and your skills.

To start, I recommend Select Futsal Ball Jina ball which is a great ball, and inspected by US Futsal Federation (USFF), and good price and good quality.

Enjoy dribbling around.
